Weddings can make for a stressful day. Weddings with blended families that have not seen each other in several years and did not part on the best of terms, even more stressful. What's needed is an ice-breaker, something to lighten the mood. All the great play writes, Shakespeare comes to mind used comedy to lighten the mood even when a tragedy was occurring (not that I consider my wedding a tragedy, but I digress).
Anyway...
What's that white object in my mother's right hand? Yep, you guessed it, a slip. During family photos, on the altar, it just, "slipped" off.
The mood was lightened, a great day had by all.
