Visitors to Southern California will often make a list of sights to see. Disneyland, various studios, Venice Beach, The Getty, etc. etc. Sadly this "eighth wonder of the world" is no longer on the "star maps" or "do not miss lists".

As a child I took Ernie's van for granted. I pretty much saw it everyday as he lived right across the street from Grandma and Grandpa's house and right around the corner from Bret Harte Elementary.

I remember Ernie giving us each a $1 on a Christmas Eve when we caroled at his house. I also remember being on the news or the newspaper one time as they featuring him and I was interviewed.

I've tried to block out the speedos.
